The Woodlands in Rock Hill is back from the dead. It does my heart good to write about this neighborhood. It seems like so often over the last two years I hear stories from different individuals who lived through or know someone who is living through having purchased a home in a new neighborhood and the builder goes belly up or just pulls out. These folks are left with a feeling of helplessness and frustration and unfortunately there is nothing they can do about it. They are stuck with a (usually) big loss in value and a view from their front porch of a barren field dotted with white poles.
That’s exactly what The Woodlands looked like when Standard Pacific pulled out. But this Rock Hill neighborhood is making a comeback. D. R. Horton and Essex Homes are the two homebuilders taking over. It’s a little early to tell, but I don’t think there will be a huge drop off in the price point. Maybe a little more with Essex than D.R. but it sure
is better than a field of poles. There is talk of adding a cabana and a recreation area with a pool. And when I say that it’s close to schools I mean that India Hook Elementary is right on the grounds. It is one of the newer Rock Hill schools. So all in all I think The Woodlands in Rock Hill is a good choice if you are looking to buy new.
